Does your vote count? That’s up for debate.
Came across a very interesting Salon article. After crunching the numbers, the people at FairVote discovered
that over the course of the last three elections, 2010, 2012 and 2014, the 44
Democratic senators received 20 million more votes than the 54 Republican
senators. Hard to believe, isn’t it? Is this what representative democracy is
supposed to look like?
The author of the piece explains how this could happen yet still give Republicans the majority in the Senate, and some options for how the problem could be fixed (although they are radical and probably won’t happen anytime soon). It’s an eye-opening read.
